About the Program

The program primarily focuses on theoretical and practical courses related to the art of painting. Through the elective courses offered in the program, it provides students with the necessary knowledge in Art History, Art Theory, and Art Criticism.

Applicants must have completed a thesis-based Master’s degree in the Painting Major Field or the Art and Design Major Field.

Note: Applications from candidates whose educational background does not meet the student source requirements will not be accepted.

ALES Requirement – Important Notice:


For candidates applying with a master’s degree, ALES is not required if they are graduates of Fine Arts Faculties, conservatory undergraduate programs, or equivalent undergraduate programs of other faculties.

All other undergraduate degree holders must have a minimum score of 60 in the ALES Verbal score type and must upload the relevant documents to the system.

Exam:

Written 40%

Portfolio 40%

Interview 20%

 

 

Scientific Examination: Written (40%) + Portfolio (40%) + Interview (20%)

Written Exam: A written examination will be conducted to assess the applicant’s knowledge of the history, contemporary practices, and theoretical discussions related to the field they are applying to, as well as their ability to convey this knowledge within a given time frame.


(Plastic Arts, Visual Culture History, Art History, Art Theory and Criticism, Art Terminology, Contemporary Art Theories)

Portfolio and Interview: The portfolio and interview examinations will be conducted simultaneously. This examination will consist of an oral interview and portfolio review, during which candidates will be asked questions about their general art knowledge, the portfolio they have submitted, and at least three original works.

Note: Since the portfolio is considered an examination document, it will not be returned. Original works will be returned to the candidate after evaluation.

Final Evaluation Score: 

For candidates not required to submit an ALES score:


Scientific Examination (50%) + Cumulative Grade Point Average (50%)

For candidates required to submit an ALES score:


ALES (50%) + Scientific Examination (25%) + Cumulative Grade Point Average (25%)

Note: Candidates must bring a BLUE ballpoint pen to be used in the written examination.
