About the Program

The program aims to offer an educational framework that contributes to the development of society’s artistic and cultural level and takes a leading role in society through its emphasis on the preservation of cultural and artistic values. All courses, except for the thesis and area of specialization courses, are elective. Students who will earn the Proficiency in Art title in Textile and Fashion Design may also, through their course selections, have the fields of Textile Design, Fashion and Apparel Design, and Fashion Accessories Design recorded in their diploma supplement.

Applicants who have completed a thesis-based Master’s degree in the following programs may apply:

  • Fine Arts Institutes: Textile Design, Textile and Fashion Design, Fashion Apparel Design, Fashion Design Major Art Departments

  • Social Sciences Institutes: Textile Design, Textile and Fashion Design, Fashion Apparel Design, Fashion Design Major/Department Programs

  • Science Institutes: Textile and Fashion Design, Textile Design, Fashion Apparel Design, Fashion Design Major/Department Programs

(Graduates of Textile Engineering Master’s programs are not eligible to apply.)

Note: Applications from candidates whose educational background does not meet the student source requirements will not be accepted.

ALES Requirement – Important Notice:

For candidates applying with a master’s degree, ALES is not required if they are graduates of Fine Arts Faculties, conservatory undergraduate programs, or equivalent undergraduate programs of other faculties. All other undergraduate degree holders must have a minimum score of 60 in the ALES Verbal score type and must upload the relevant documents to the system.

Scientific Examination: Written Exam (40%) + Portfolio (40%) + Interview (20%)

Written Exam:A knowledge-based written examination will be conducted, covering key concepts in Textile and Fashion Design, design movements, designers, fashion and design events, historical processes, ethical, aesthetic, technical, and methodological aspects of the field, current issues, and an interpretation question requiring advanced-level conceptual association based on the competencies gained during prior education.

Portfolio:The portfolio will include works produced by the candidate during their undergraduate and master’s education, as well as independently created art and design products. Candidates must be able to respond to questions about their works by establishing advanced-level connections between relevant concepts.

The design portfolio should include:

  • Curriculum vitae

  • Collections from undergraduate studies

  • Illustrations and product photographs

  • Certificates related to the field

  • Documentation of events, exhibitions, competitions, etc.

Since submitted portfolios are considered examination documents, they will not be returned.

Interview: An oral examination consisting of questions designed to assess the candidate’s competence and proficiency in the field of Textile and Fashion Design.

Fields Covered in the Examination: Key concepts in Textile and Fashion Design, design movements, designers, fashion and design events, historical processes, design and production techniques, current issues in the field, and related topics.

Final Evaluation Score

  • For candidates not required to submit an ALES score:

    Scientific Examination (50%) + Cumulative Grade Point Average (50%)

  • For candidates required to submit an ALES score:

    ALES (50%) + Scientific Examination (25%) + Cumulative Grade Point Average (25%)

Note: Candidates must bring a BLUE ballpoint pen for use in the written examination.
